Protect Your License
Attention all beauty care professionals and Georgia residents! We need your support to prevent Senate Bill 354 from passing. The Georgia State Legislature is considering SB 354, a bill that would deregulate licensing for barbers and cosmetologists. This bill threatens the quality of service provided by these professionals, as well as the safety of consumers.

No to SB 354
Senate Bill 354, currently being considered in the State of Georgia, aims to exempt licensing for individuals performing limited responsibilities within the beauty care industry. This includes roles such as Barber Apprentice, Barber II, and Cosmetologists. We strongly oppose this bill as it compromises the safety and quality of services provided by licensed professionals.
Without proper licensing, anyone can claim to be a professional barber or cosmetologist. This move threatens the professional standards of these industries, potentially putting consumers at risk. In Georgia, there are over 50,000 licensed barbers and cosmetologists (Georgia Secretary of State), all of whom have undergone rigorous training to ensure they meet industry standards. By deregulating licensing, we risk compromising these standards and endangering public health, leading to an increase in unsanitary practices and potential health risks. We urge our legislators in Georgia to vote No on SB 354. Preserve our standards for professional service and consumer safety by keeping licensing requirements intact for barbers and cosmetologists.
